Kickin it old school

This outfit draws on some inspiration from many different eras, let's take a trip back in time.

Lace top - I never thought I would wear a lace shirt, however lace is everywhere these days. Lace was hugely popular back in the days of Queen Victoria, however thankfully it is updated since then and since your grandmothers doily's.

Rolled Jeans - I love rolling many of my pants. My husband laughs at me and always asks if I am expecting a flood. Rolled pants remind me of the 50's. Picture James Dean with a pack of smokes rolled in his t-shirt sleeve and jeans rolled at the bottom. Or who remembers the 90's with the tight roll? Thankfully again, this trend is updated.

Oxford Shoes - again popular in the 40's and 50's. Everything old is new again!

Hat - The Cloche hat is a bell shaped hat that was popular in the 20's.

Simple Elegance

As a busy mom of 2 there are days when I feel accomplished if I can get out of the house having put a brush through my hair and without a stain on my shirt. We have all, at one point in time, felt the stress and pinch of being in a rush trying to get out the door yet still want to look presentable to the world.

Well we can all calm down, take a deep breath and without much effort or time make ourselves look fabulous every day no matter the circumstance.  Let’s coin our own phrase and call it simple elegance.
Step 1: Find everyday pieces or styles that you have and throw them on.
Step 2: Take a look at some other pieces or things that you may own but only dig them out for a special occasion.
Step 3: Add them together and viola, you look like you actually had an extra 30 minutes to read the latest Vogue magazine and put some time and thought into your look before you had to race out of the house.

Example 1: Have you ever had zero time to blow out and style your hair; or despite your best effort you were just having a bad hair day? No problem, throw your hair in a simple messy bun but add that elegance with a pop of red lipstick – 5 minutes.

Example 2: On the run, throw on a pair of your favorite jeans; pair it with a staple - the simple white t-shirt. Quick go into your jewelry box and pull out that elegant necklace that you wore once to a holiday party. Throw it on, out the door – again 5 minutes.

Spotted...the perfect dress for less

My handsome hubby and I had the honor and privilege of attending the wedding of some dear friends a couple of weeks ago. My before mentioned handsome, yet frugal hubby feared that I would have to go out and purchase a new dress to wear. He knows me all too well after all these years. However we are planning to build a house soon so I promised him that I would not spend money buying a new dress. I assured him that I had plenty of things in my closet to wear. Which I undoubtedly do, however I am also a girl~I like to shop. I tried on the slew of dresses I had umpteen times, while they are all nice, after all I purchased them for a reason, I cringed because they just weren't what I wanted to wear on this occasion. But I kept telling myself, I can do this, I can make one of these work. Alas I broke. Two days before the wedding I had to run to Target for one thing or another and spotted a dress that I knew was what I wanted for the wedding. Remember though I said Target. I found the perfect dress I wanted to wear at Target. So I made myself happy by getting a new dress and frugal hubby happy by spending a mere $24.99 for the perfect dress.
The best part was Nicky Hilton wore her leopard print dress for around $400, mine looked great for $24.99. Your welcome hubby, I think I am red carpet ready for far less!
